Oakville does more for homeowners in winter than most towns. It plows the sidewalks, and for a fee it will clear the snowbank its plow leaves at the end of your driveway. What it does not do is your driveway, your walk or your steps, and it does not come until the storm is over. Here is what a private contract costs, where the Town's service ends, and how to combine the two.
2026-27 snow removal prices in Oakville
Seasonal prices for unlimited visits at a 5 cm trigger, November 15 to April 15.
| Property | Driveway only | Driveway, walk and salt | Typical Oakville streets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Townhouse or narrow single driveway | $420 - $580 | $620 - $840 | Uptown Core, newer townhouse streets |
| Two-car driveway, semi or small single | $540 - $720 | $780 - $1,080 | River Oaks, Joshua Creek, West Oak Trails |

| Large lot or long driveway | $920 - $1,480 | $1,380 - $2,200 | Old Oakville estates, Eastlake, north Oakville, Trafalgar |
Because the Town clears sidewalks, an Oakville contract usually does not need the public sidewalk, which keeps prices on corner lots lower than in Hamilton. Single visits run $45 to $95 for a driveway. Try our snow removal cost calculator for your size, or read the Ontario snow removal cost guide.

Source: Town of Oakville snow clearing page, October 2026. The Town plows 2,000 lane km of road and 1,100 km of sidewalks. The catch for a resident street is timing: the plow comes after the storm, so a driveway cleared at 6 a.m. can be blocked again by the windrow at 10 a.m. A contract with a windrow return visit, or the Town program, solves that.
The Oakville windrow program for 2026-27
The Town's driveway windrow program clears the ridge of snow its plow leaves at the end of your driveway. For 2026-27:
- Fee: $190.27 plus HST, $215 in total.
- Service: December 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, when snowfall exceeds 7.5 cm.
- Phase 1 priority registration (65 or older, a disability or medical condition, or no able-bodied person under 65 in the home): October 1 to 15, 2026.
- Phase 2 general registration: October 16 to November 7, 2026, first come, first served, up to 1,100 driveways in total.
- Not included: the driveway itself, windrows left by sidewalk plows, and private or unassumed roads.
It is good value if you clear the driveway yourself. If you have a full contract that already includes windrow returns, you do not need both.
Oakville parking and plow access
Oakville bans parking on Town streets from 2 to 6 a.m. between November 15 and April 15 unless you have a permit, and even permitted cars can be ticketed if they block a plow. Cars on the street are the main reason a residential plow leaves a bigger windrow, so keep them in the driveway on storm nights and tell your contractor if a car will be parked across the apron.
How much snow Oakville gets
Oakville sits on the lake, between Toronto and Burlington. The nearest long-term Environment and Climate Change Canada record, at Toronto Pearson, averages about 108.5 cm of snow a year, well below Hamilton's 156.5 cm. Lakeshore neighbourhoods like Bronte, Old Oakville and Eastlake often see less snow than north Oakville but more freezing rain and refreezing, which is why salting matters as much as plowing here. North of Dundas, the newer subdivisions in the Preserve, Palermo and Westmount get more drifting off open land.
